Aryan is growing up fast

Aryan is now 7 months old and he is growing so fast. It amazes me that this tiny little fragile baby has grown up so much. I can still remember when he was so small and delicate that I was afraid to hold him. It has been long time since we had an update on Aryan. So let us start where we left last time. Aryan's Dadu and Dadi left at the end of August. We came to know the day after they left that Aryan's first tiny tooth is coming. Aryan was a little cranky those days., waking up many times in the night. Saroj Aunty from Indianapolis came to look after Aryan for 2 weeks until Bitto Masi and Satyen Mausa ji arrived. Aryan cried the first time he saw Saroj aunty but then he does the same thing to every new person. But he adjusted well within a day and was behaving himself very nicely. Nasreen, my friend also visited us that same weekend and she was thrilled to see Aryan. Surprisingly, Aryan did not cry when she held him.

Masi and Mausa ji came on September 13th. Aryan cried again and again the first day just looking at them. But the next day he was smiling and cooing looking at them. His Dadu left to go to Sippy's( their son)place on 26th September and since then Aryan has been enjoying his daytime with Dadi. He doesnot let Dadi disappear from his sight even for a second. He cries if she even goes to the kitchen for a minute. Even if he is busy playing with his toys, he somehow senses that the person in the room quietly went away.

Aryan got his second bottom tooth within a week of the first tooth. Right now his 3 upper teeth are coming out. He bites me sometimes when I am feeding him. He thinks its funny but his mommy doesn't agree with him. It hurts Aryan!!!!

Aryan started to stand up around 6 months old. Now he doesn't want to sit. He stands up holding his table toys. He stands up holding the sofa, table, TV, Kushal's jeans, Dadi's pajama, Oven bottom drawer.

Aryan goes into the kitchen pantry and stands up and throws down all the daal, masala and other items on the lower shelf. He knows how to open cabinets and pulls all the stuff out. If you are standing with the Fridge door open, he sneaks under and pulls the stuff from the bottom shelf.

The downside to all this is that since he is so busy pulling down stuff that he forgets to hold himself up by using at least one of hands. He tries to use both his hands to pull down stuff and falls down hitting his head with a big thud. And what follows, you already know, a high pitched wail that makes everybody run and find him.

Aryan one day took off to climb the stairs all the way up to the third floor and he was successful. We were dumbstruck to watch him climb up so easily. We had never seen him trying to climb stairs since we never let him get close to the stairs. So it was amazing to watch him do this so easily as if he has been climbing stairs for weeks.

Well, I guess that was a long update on Aryan. Hopefully next time I will have updates regularly so that we don't have 1000 word essay on his developments. By the way, I also uploaded his video when he climbed up on his bouncer on his own and stood up. I was a little scared that he will fall really hard, but he did fine. He even climbed out off the bouncer instead of diving head down.

Aryan talks about his mummy

My mummy is always praising me on this blog. So today I am not letting my mummy talk and instead I am going to "talk" about my mummy.

I want you to meet my sweet mummy.

I love my mummy so much.

Here is special kiss for my mummy.

Hey! by the way I have started to crawl on my tummy for last 2-3 weeks and I can go and fetch my favorite toys on my own. Also I serve people, like the other day I took bread for my Dadu ( well my mom was carrying me in her arms) but I had the bread in my hands. Also I gave Dadi paper napkin, again my mom was carrying me but I carried the paper napkin for Dadi. Also I have started to imitate other people eating, I also chew just like older people though I do not get anything to eat so I just eat the air making sounds like I am eating something delicious. It's a lot of fun, you should try it too.

Aryan is 5 months old

Aryan has become very active. He makes so many different types of sounds. He still says abooo but only occassionally. His favorites are screaming in joy with shrill and low throat sounds. Watch his video playing with Dada's fingers.

He has learnt to turnover on to his back from his stomach for last 2-3 weeks. He tries to advance forward by pushing his legs in crawling position. But instaed of getting up on his hands, he uses his head on the floor. Which does not make him go forward too far. I guess he will figure it out in a couple of weeks. His turning over from back to stomach is so efficent that he turns over and over again on one side and in few seconds you can find him under the table or near the sofa. His recent favorite location is the internet modem with blinking ligths.

Aryan's mummy went to Connecticut on a job site for three days and Aryan behaved really well and stayed with his papa and dada dadi. He did not throw any tantrums and was such a good boy.

Aryan wants people to be around him all the time. He likes it when we talk to him. He responds with his screams and various sounds. He still gets his legs and hands stuck in the crib slats. Watch his video responding to his Dadi.

Aryan's Dada and Dadi will be leaving at the end of this month. I know that Aryan will miss them a lot. They have been with Aryan day in and day out taking care of him, loving him so much since he was born. Also Dada and Dadi will miss Aryan too. We hope that they will be back soon to be with him again.

Aryan with Dadi and Chachi

Aryan is playing and talking with dadima and Swapna Chachi. Dadima is telling the story of a monkey and an elephant on a horse cart. Incidently, the monkey pushes the elephant off the horse cart. He is listening intently and is responding back with yeah, gooo and the video tells the rest. Enjoy the video and photos.

Aryan's new developments

Aryan has started turning on to his stomach. He started this couple of weeks ago, but was not very efficient but lately he has gotten very good at it. But he still has to learn how to turn onto his back. So he keeps turning on his stomach and plays for few minutes and then gets uncomfortable. So he starts crying for help to turn him on his back. But within a minute he turns on his stomach. He has been working on his style for turning onto his stomach for a week now and has refined his style to the point where he turns effortlessly. So I guess now he will start to work on his efforts to return to his back.

He even turns onto his stomach in the night, and then cries for help. Kushal and I need to wake up many times in the night to turn him over. The other thing he does is getting his legs stuck between the slats of his crib. Aryan has started to move around by pushing himself with his feet on the floor and sliding on his stomach. Since during daytime he is on a sleeping bag in the living room and so has plenty of space to move around. But in the night, he is confined to his crib and thus gets his legs stuck in between the slats when he tries to move around.

He has also started making more sounds. His earlier sounds since he was nearly 2 months old were abooo and agooo. His abooo and agooo are still his favorites but he now makes aaaa, ooooooo, aaaaoooo and some shreiking sounds. He was always good with his smiles. He still smiles at everybody and it is easy to make him smile. All you need to do is talk to him and smile yourself and he responds immediately.

I think he has started recognizing people and his surroundings. We used to take him to our friends place and he would go to everybody and smile at people. But since last couple of weeks, he gets restless and starts to cry when we take to other's people houses. And once he is back at home, he is again smiling and cooing.

So all in all, Aryan has become very active and it is so much fun to spend time with him.

Aryan went to apply for his passport

We decided on Saturday of the memorial day weekend that we will apply for Aryan's passport. So I got the application ready on Friday and on Saturday morning went to post office close to our home. The passport official said that they cannot take passport photo of babies so we went to Walgreen. They also refused and asked us to go to special photo place like Wolf camera/Ritz camera. We went to Ritz camera in Old Orchard Mall. The guy at Ritz Camera agreed to take Aryan's photo but said the cost would be $15 per copy. We needed 2 copies, so we thought that he is asking for outrageous amount as usually it is 7.99 for 2 copies at Walgreen.

Anyways we decided to try Jewel Osco near our place. There an Indian lady was at the photo counter and agreed to do a photo but said she does not guarantee a good photo as it is difficult to take perfect passport photo of a baby. So we decided to give it a try and she asked another guy to come over and take photos. Well the first couple of sets did not come out good. They were using regular canon digital camera. So she herself tried few times. But the photos just didn't come out right. Kushal said that we can go home and take a picture ourselves. So we went home, put a white bedsheet on the wall with push pins and propped Aryan on a dining chair. I was feeling so sorry for him. He was looking at us with pitiful eyes. Finally we thought we have a good photo and Kushal took the camera card to Jewel, got the photos printed and again we headed back to the Post office. You can see his photo shoot at http://picasaweb.google.com/aryanjn

Well, things weren't going to be that easy. The lady at the passport counter looked at the photo and said that Aryan's face is too big in the photo and does not conform with the 1 inch rule for passport photo. She recommended us to try Kinko's. So again with poor Aryan ( he was totally exhausted with the photo session at Jewel and at home) we went to Kinko's. Well on our way to Kinko's , Aryan decided to go to sleep. So when we reached Kinko's we had to wake him up and he was not happy about it. But finally, Kinko's person was more professional with better equipment and the photos came out to be good.

By this time it was only 5 minutes to closing time for the passport window at the Post office. We rushed to the post office, and barely made it. The lady looked at the photo and said it will work. Phew! what a relief. We submitted the application and made it to our home 3 1/2 hours from the time we started. Well the ordeal wasn't finished yet. When we got home, I remembered that the lady didnot ask us to sign the application. Well, you need to take an oath that the information provided is correct and then you need to sign the application. we decided to feed Aryan and then call the post office, knowing that the passport window was already closed. But before we could call we received a call from them asking us to come back and sign the application. So we went back and took the oath and signed the application. So hopefully we will get his passport in 8-10 weeks.

Aryan's First Blog

Hi All,

I will be posting about aryan's development through this blogger. I got this idea from my friend Satish, and am trying to imitate his idea of letting every one know how Aryan is doing.

Aryan was waiting for his dada and dadi's arrival in US and perhaps that gave him an extra push to come into this world early. Since he was due on 19th March so he came 2 weeks early.

He came into this world on 5th March, 2007, weighing 6 Pounds and 9 Ounces and 19.5 inches in length.

Please find his birth snaps at http://picasaweb.google.com/kushaljn/AryanJain
